In 2003 I won the contest for designing the Reno Centennial Coin.
Above, as winner I received a check for $1000 from Toni Harsh, a member of the Reno City Council in festive centennial-style dress. I didn't get to eat the chocolate replica of the coin.
Part of the deal was designing a poster as well (right).
On the left is a copy of the original drawing, and above is a photo of the first coin minted (Artist's Proof). A limited number of coins were minted on the old Coin Press No. 1 from the U.S. Mint in Carson City, now preserved at the Nevada State Museum.
